The Baroon Dollar's first media appearance!

Professor Cummins gave the Baroon Dollar its first media coverage on ABC's Radio National Program - Life Matters on Friday 17th April 2009.

The program investigated the effects of the currenct economic recession on health.
Speakers included Andrew Leigh (Associate Professor of Econmics, Australian National University);
Professor Mark Harris (Executive Director, Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity, UNSW); Professor Gordon Parker (Executive director, Black Dog Institute).

Professor Bob Cummins visits the AICC Inc

Professor Bob Cummins, a foundation member of the AICC, visited the management committee in Maleny on Saturday 11th April to discuss a research proposal investigating the impact of community currencies on community happiness. Bob is Convenor of the Australian Centre on Quality of Life at Deakin University.

AICC starts the Baroon Dollar Project

The AICC Inc has launched its first community currency project!

The Baroon Dollar Project aims to establish a local complementary or community currency for the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Queensland.
The currency takes its name from the Baroon Pocket Dam, Blackall Range region.

It is hoped that lessons learnt from the local model will inform the development of other community currencies around Australia.
